Surroundings
Villa Jolla is located in a quiet villa area of the resort of Jávea, a few minutes away from the main beach El Arenal and more tranquil coves with azure waters, such as La Granadella and Portitxol.
The beaches – as it is said – are some of the most beautiful in Spain. Not only can you enjoy sunbathing here, but here you can also do various activities such as snorkelling and even stand-up paddle. And if you get hungry, you can eat delicious tapas here with a sea view in the various restaurants and trendy beach bars like Cala Clemence.

In the evening, head to the lively Arenal promenade for a stroll and stop for dinner at the port where you can eat delicious fresh fish and tapas while overlooking the sea.

Particularly recommended restaurants are:
- Bambula on El Arenal promenade overlooking the sea and a beautiful sunset: labambula.es
- Chabada on El Arenal promenade: chabadajavea.com
- Cala Clemence on the azure-blue beach Cala del Portixo. With clear visibility, Ibiza is visible across the sea: calaclemence.com
- Austriaco Café Wien on El Arenal promenade for delicious pastries and fresh bread rolls every morning from 7am also available for takeaway (5-minute bike ride from Villa Jolla)
- CalaViuda on Plata Grava near the port in Javea: calaviudaxabia.com
- BBQ restaurant Fuego on El Arenal promenade: barbbqfuego.com
Once enclosed by walls, Jávea’s historic centre still has an irregular urban pattern that survived the Middle Ages. In a cosy atmosphere, you will find old houses and palaces with whitewashed walls. Be sure to take a look at the 16th-century Church of San Bartolomé, built entirely of the local golden “tosca” sandstone.
Within a 5-minute drive is Javea’s 9-hole golf course. In addition, the 27-hole golf course La Sella and the 9-hole golf course Ifach are located within 20 minutes by car. A golf enthusiast can indulge in this area.
Javea and its surroundings are also excellent for exploring by racing bike. There are more than 20 racing bike routes with challenging climbs. There are several good rental companies for racing bikes should you not (want to) bring your own. On the Montgó (753m) you can make beautiful walks and hikes.
Several wineries are located in the vicinity, such as Les Freses (www.lesfreses.com) (12 km).
Every Thursday morning there is a traditional market in Javea’s old historic centre. Besides fresh fruit and vegetables, local products such as olives can be bought as well as clothes, shoes and the like.
Nice clothes shops abound in Javea’s historic centre, near Javea harbour (Avenue Rey Jaime I) and behind El Arenal boulevard (Avenue de la Llibertat).
The area around Jávea is worth seeing, below some tips for day trips:
- Take a short drive (15 minutes) to the seaside town of Dénia. The symbol of this historic town is the Castle of Dénia built on a cliff from where you have incredible views of the old town, the coast and even the Montgó massif. Visit the historic centre; a fascinating mix of modern architecture and old neighbourhoods… Of course, you cannot miss the Dénia coastline that is split into two parts: Las Rotas, characterised by rocky and quiet coves, and Las Marinas, with its long sandy beaches. Here you will find plenty of water sports opportunities!
- If you want an even further adventure, you can catch a boat from Dénia to the Balearic Islands such as Ibiza. Indeed, Dénia is the nearest Spanish city to this archipelago – less than 100 km from lively Ibiza.
- For a city visit, drive in just over 1 hour to Valencia very lively and beautiful Spanish port city where there is always something to do.
Villa Jolla can be reached by car or by plane. From Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Eindhoven you can fly to Allicante or Valencia in just over 2 hours. A rental car can be rented at the airport.
